Obsession to Sideline
I have always been preoccupied with comics. It is my hobby, my obsession, my passion. Every avenue of creativity I've followed stems from this primordial love. My paintings, my art, my music . . . all of these pursuits can be traced back to my fascination with comics.
If I love the form so much, then why have I spent so
much of my creative time on OTHER avenues of expression?
Why spend SO LITTLE time creating works in the form
of my first love?
Is it a fear of being totally consumed by your obsession? Is it the absence of an individual viewpoint? Is it a dread that maybe you're just not good enough? Is it all that and more?
Yes it is.
But as I've stated elsewhere on this site, the older
you get, the more your perspective changes. I finally
asked myself, "So what if you think you suck? Has that
ever stopped you from doing something you truly wanted?"
No. So now I'm finally throwing my hat into the ring.
